DR. THUKARAM POOJARY
Dr. Thukaram Poojary is a Historian and a Museologist who has dedicated himself to the collection and preservation of reminicential artefacts of Tulu culture. He is the founder of Rani Abbakka Tulu Study Centre and Tulu Baduku Vasthu Sangrahalya which also nestles S.U Paniyadi Library complex and the numismatics section. He has to his credit the first ever Rani Abbakka Art Gallery established in the year 2011. Dr. Poojary has led a number of projects, seminars, workshops and symposiums pertaining to the field of History and Museums. He strongly believes that Museums are the links between the past and the future and therefore has been striving to reconstruct the life and times of Tuluvas for three decades now.
DR. ASHALATHA SUVARNA
Dr. Ashalatha Suvarna has been the corner stone in the establishment of Rani Abbakka Tulu Museum along with her husband Prof. Thukaram Poojary. She has a Ph.D in Marketing Rural Health Care Programmes from Mangalore University. She is the author of the book ‘Granary of Tulu Heritage’ and ‘Sirikanda’. She has the distinction of co-editing two research volumes – ‘Bantwala Ithihasa Darshana’ and ‘Bhauthika Shodha.’ She has been a true exemplar of the 21st century woman who has balanced a professional and personal life alongside her imposing passion for art and culture.
