TULUVA DARSHANA
A week long programme organised in December 1999 aimed at providing a glimpse of history, culture and tradition of Tulunadu. This festival of Tuluva Darshan showcased the life and culture through seminars, folk games, folk dance, competitions and exhibitions. The idea behind such an endeavour was to re-invoke and re-embrace the fast disappearing agrarian culture together with the traditional cropping system and recreational activities that had gradually begun to falcate.
DRISHTI SRISHTI
A remarkable programme organized in 2011 aimed towards providing a distinct representation to the Valiant Queen of Coastal Karnataka-Rani Abbakka. Exceptional paintings of the queen’s chronicles from the canvas of 24 artists from across India found a place in the Rani Abbakka Art Gallery, the first of its kind in the land.
LECTURE SERIES
Series of lectures have been organized since the inception of the organisation to propagate the vision of the centre. The lecture series focused on topics including heritage, culture, language and material studies from across different schools and colleges in and out of the district. It was organised in prominent historical locations such as Mumbai, Bhadravathi, Shimogga, Vijayapura, and Middle East.
PANIYADI LIBRARY
A library was dedicated to Srinivas Upadhyaya Paniyadi, a veteran who had fought for a separate state status for Tulunadu.
DOCUMENTATION OF ORAL HISTORY
The mainstream history is based on edicts, hero stones, written records, literary compilations etc the folk history uses entirely different set of source materials. Two of the primary sources used in the reconstruction of folk history are the oral tradition and material objects. The centre aims to record and document the historic significance of the oral history as well material objects used by the indigenous people of Coastal Karnataka in their daily life and thereby, reconstruct the cultural history of the region.
